Kataru is a Japanese café–bistro conceived through contrast and connection. The interior translates playful drinks and comforting Japanese fare into a modern, casual setting — composed of relaxed corners and intimate gestures that encourage lingering, conversation, and shared experiences.

The project involved a full gut renovation of a former traditional Indonesian seafood restaurant. We led the interior design, facade design, and brand-aligned spatial direction, reimagining the existing structure into a contemporary café–bistro.

The design process focused on reinterpreting an existing space through new rhythms, material contrasts, and moments of pause — allowing the café to feel both lively and grounded, casual yet considered.
